The henna night is the most intimate evening of a Moroccan wedding: women of the family, friends, candles, ululations and henna patterns on the bride’s hands.
Venue and timing
At the family home or a small salon, one or two days before the wedding, for no more than four hours.
The henna artist (nekacha)
- Book weeks ahead and look at her previous work.
- Choose a style: traditional Fassi, fine patterns or minimal.
- Test first if your skin is sensitive.
Outfit and décor
Green — the colour of baraka — is the classic choice. Use warm candlelight, copper lanterns, green and gold with touches of pink, and a traditional tray with henna, dates and milk.
